Online Consumer Information via QR-Code to enhance Transparency of Food

Consumers everywhere are increasingly using mobile devices to research and make purchase decisions, and share their views. While consumers can access third-party sites/apps for subjective ratings and traffic light schemes on product nutrition, environment and societal aspects, they expect manufacturers to be even more transparent and to make detailed product information easily available.

As part of building trust in Nestlé corporate and product brands, Nestlé is expanding the use of the Nestlé Nutritional Compass to include a QR (Quick Response) code to give consumers a gateway to useful, fact-based information beyond the information on the label. By scanning the QR code on packages, consumers will be able to access information on the nutritional, environmental societal and security aspects of the product – helping shoppers and consumers make more informed decisions and contributing to enhanced trust and enjoyment of Nestlé products.
